When I made aliya from Moscow in 1992, I didn't realize I was part of the greatest return to Zion in the modern age. Back then, I was a 14-year-old boy who, together with his mother, faced the challenge of starting a new life in a new land with a new language. Beginning in Ramat Gan and later in Beersheba, I grew to love Israel as my people's historic birthright, the one place in the world where Jews would always have a home.My mother and I did not always have an easy time. It took ... |

My son was born in Israel. We speak Russian at home, but his native language is Hebrew. And so it should be. Yet, I would like him to be able to study Russian in school (in addition to English as a foreign language) and to have full access to the rich Russian culture that is part of his inheritance. As the law stands today, only children born in the former Soviet Union are entitled to study Russian in school instead of a second foreign language (French or Arabic). Children, like my son, born to ... |

Minster Uzi Landau will not meet with MKs who refuse to condemn terrorism. Therefore MK Talab El-Sana (United Arab List-Ta'al) will not receive a meeting with the Minister of National Infrastrucutre. In an absurd defense of his position, MK El-Sana said, "It seems that an Arab MK must convert Judaism to receive a meeting." The issue is not MK El-Sana's religion. Minister Landau cannot carry on with business as usual and conduct a politcal meeting ... |

On Saturday night, MK Anastassia Michaeli gave birth to her eighth child, a son. She is the first Member of Knesset to have a child during her tenure. We wish Anastassia and her amazing family warm congratulations and many blessings for happiness. A full third of Israel Beytenu’s 15 MKs are women. Two of them, MKs Michaeli and MK Orly Levi are mothers of young children. The message is unambiguous: We need women in leadership positions in this country. ... |

This week, a first-of-its-kind space cooperation deal between Israel and Kazakhstan was signed. According to the agreement, Kazakhstan will purchase satellites and surveillance technology from Israel. Relations between Israel and this Central Asian country have been warming in recent years, in large part because of Avigdor Lieberman’s efforts in recent years to deepen ties with newly independent states from the FSU. Not only are such relations ... |

This week Minister Uzi Landau spoke to at the launch of the Jerusalem Dinner Club (JDC). Café Jo was packed to capacity with people who wanted to hear from and talk to our leaders. We knew that we would have a big crowd, but we at Beytenu still could not help but be inspired by the commitment of the attendees to do all they could as citizens to educate themselves on the issues and to get to know their leaders and have their leaders get to know them in ... |

On Tuesday 16 June, the Jerusalem Dinner Club will be launched at 7:30 pm at Cafe Jo at 41 King George St. Minister Uzi Landau will kick off the season with a talk on "Obligations of Citizenship:Loyalty is not Optional". We want to give Israel's English speaking citizens access to our leaders. This is your chance to meet a major politician in a relatively small setting.
