Public Safety Minister Yitzchak Aharonovich met Thursday in his office with Independent Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman, who chairs the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. The two discussed airline security; emergency management,security operations and intelligence; joint research into the radicalization of sectors of society, including radical Islam; and detection of terrorist materials and weapons.

On the diplomatic front, they discussed Israel's international relations, including Israeli-U.S. relations against the backdrop of the Netanyahu-Obama meetings, the situation in eastern Jerusalem and the construction freeze, among other things.

Lieberman joined Republican senators Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and John McCain of Arizona in a Jerusalem news conference regarding their visit to the Palestinian Authority. For more, click here.
