From Avigdor Lieberman
(16-05-2010) Lieberman Invites new British Foreign Secretary to Israel

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Avigdor Lieberman spoke by phone on(13 May 2010 with incoming British Foreign Secretary William Hague and congratulated him on his appointment. FM Lieberman said that he followed the election campaign in the UK with great interest.

The Foreign Secretary said that a stable government was established in the United Kingdom with strong support in Parliament, and although for a long time the UK has not had a coalition government, the incoming government will be good and active.

FM Lieberman replied that Israel has extensive experience with complex coalition governments, and invited Foreign Secretary Hague to visit Israel as his guest to learn from our experience - this in addition to many other good reasons to visit Israel.

Lieberman met William Hague during his first visit to London as Foreign Minister (May 2009) when the latter served as foreign minister in the shadow cabinet of the Conservative Party. They had a good discussion, and FM Lieberman was impressed by Hague's knowledge of Middle Eastern affairs.
